PENN STATE HERSHEY MEDICAL CENTER | ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS
Penn State Hershey Medical Center is located within the Mount Nittany Health building. The setup was confusing and there was little signage. Many patients were unable to find the Hershey Medical Center. As a result, business was lost to Mount Nittany Health.
To combat these issues, we proposed installing a large wall graphic which faces people as they walk into the hospital. The wall graphic is 10 feet long and 5 1/2 feet tall. It is a large presence that instantly captures attention. Each panel is a separate piece to allow graphics to be changed out. Using standoffs, the graphic builds off the wall into three different levels.
The messaging of this graphic uses Penn State Hershey's campaign "Inspired Together." It tells the story of a previous patient who completely turned his life around through gastric bypass surgery and a changed lifestyle. This story is complemented by his doctor, who speaks of how his patient inspired him.
Near the end of this project, we were approached with issues regarding the door into Hershey's medical center. There are two doors, but only one slides. People often approach the incorrect door which hinders the flow of traffic and affects people's experience at the facility. To resolve the issue of which door opens, we designed and installed perforated graphics that cover the stationary door. These graphics give the illusion of a space that cannot be moved through but also further drives traffic into the medical center by giving it more presence.
